Getting started
How to build a brand for your small business
A brand is not a logo or a color — it’s the promise buyers remember you for. Pick one promise, keep it in every photo, sentence, and package, and buyers stop comparing you. The brands that stick are the ones that repeat themselves, not the ones that reinvent themselves every month.
A brand is a promise, not a palette
Customers forget your hex codes and remember how you made them feel. The promise — “we do X for Y, every time” — is what they carry into the next purchase. The visuals just prove the promise is real.
The four pillars
| Pillar | What it means | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Voice | How you sound | “Warm, plain, no jargon” |
| Look | How you look | “Cream, forest, black — no neons” |
| Story | Why you started | “A home baker who missed real bread” |
| Proof | Why they believe you | “Reviews, process shots, guarantee” |
The smallest kit that works
- 01
One font pair (display + body) used everywhere.
- 02
Two colors plus black and cream — no more until they limit you.
- 03
One sentence that says who you’re for and what you promise.
- 04
Five photos shot in the same light, same place, same style.
- 05
One packaging touch that matches the voice — a stamp, a card, a seal.
The consistency test
Cover the logo. Can someone still tell it’s you from the photo, the sentence, and the package? If not, the brand isn’t the logo yet — it’s still just a file.
The brands that stick are the ones that repeat themselves, not the ones that reinvent themselves every month.

Build your brand with Clymb
Tell Clymb what you’re building and the store, brand, and social content get built and deployed — not a template, an actual business.
